A real greek buffet
The morning and evening buffets were so tasty. And the service as in general in this Hotel is very good. I loved the original barley bread and the variety of dishes. Everything is fresh and you will love it regardless if you are vegan, vegetarian or a meat lover.

Authentic Cretan food and amazing staff. From the very first day, we enjoyed eating at Amalthea restaurant every day. The food is delicious, full of variety and suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans as well. From traditional Greek cuisine to international meals, the ingredients are always fresh and high in quality. The staff is very friendly, hospitable, attentive and hardworking. We especially enjoyed chatting with Michael each day - he gave us helpful tips on what to do in the area as well as the recommendation to try Mamos beer! We can genuinely recommend this place to everyone visiting Crete and the wonderful Alianthos Garden Hotel.

A 5 star setting perfect for a coffee, cocktail, beer or lunch. A relaxing place for a morning coffee. A perfect setting for a delicious lunch A brilliant place for an evening cocktail. Whether it's before or after your breakfast or dinner, watching the sunset or watching the day pass this bar is a lovely location with brilliant staff.

Best cocktails in Plakias. Very nice and accurate service. The holtel is clean and comfortable. Nice food and the cocktails were really tasty , the bartender clearly now how to mix alcohol and how to treat customers! We went out around the hotel but I think the best choice is to stay there if you want to drink the best cocktail in town! I suggest you to go!

Wonderful experience and terrific drinks
I had a great experience at Nymfes bar with my girlfriend.
The cocktails were terrific and the staff was incredibly kind and professional.
The bar manager Alessandro guided us and explained us about the different Greek spirits and gins.

Fantastic time in a great hotel
We really enjoyed our recent 9 night stay in the Alianthos Garden. The hotel is excellent in every way. The friendliness and efficiency of the staff was impressive and the hotel was kept spotlessly clean. The food was outstanding at both breakfast and dinner with a vast range of dishes to choose from, all of excellent quality.
Our room was very quiet and the bed extremely comfortable.
We've been to Plakias many times in the past and have always stayed in apartments but we would definitely stay here again.

Such lovely people!
The staff were so lovely and friendly. The location was perfect, right on the bay. Lovely bars for watching the sunset. definitely our preferred part of the island, being south the weather was always better and the sunsets were spectacular. we were half board, the food was delicious and varied and the waiting staff just lovely. couldn’t fault it.

Beautiful stay in Plakias
We love the Alianthos Garden hotel! Lobby and interior is gorgeous, plenty of options to just sit down and relax with your favorite drink. Rooms are small and simple but clean and comfortable. Great location close to the beach, mountains and shops/restaurants. We had half-board and there was great choose meals in the restaurant - all delicious. Staff was super nice and helpful. When our planned day program failed, they organized us last minute trip to the Preveli Beach. Getting to Plakias can be time-consuming, if you take bus, plan ahead. There is no direct bus from Heraklion, only through Rethimno. If you miss the bus, you’ll need to take taxi for approx. 50€. But it is worth it, beaches were almost empty. We can definitely recommend stay at Alianthos Garden. Great vacation!

Wonderful place, very nice and helpful staff. Very well organized restaurant, all meals can be eaten outside in the garden. Tasty and varied food, beautiful greenery around the hotel, the beach very close. A place for people who prefer peace and freedom. We had to vacate the room at 11am. There is an excellently organized place to leave our luggage: lockers and accessible showers. A big plus for that. We will be back for sure

Top Hotel. Super gutes und abwechslungsreiches Essen. Ausgesprochen freundliches Personal. Zimmer schön und immer top gereinigt.
Pool und Kinderpool vorhanden - von uns aber nicht genützt.

Η διαμονή στο Alianthos Garden ήταν φανταστική. Το δωμάτιο ήταν άνετο, ωραία διακοσμημένο και πολύ καθαρό. Γενικά όλοι οι χώροι του ξενοδοχείου είναι πολύ προσεγμένοι και πεντακάθαροι. Το προσωπικό είναι φιλικό και πάντα πρόθυμο να σε εξυπηρετήσει. Απολαύσαμε θεσπέσια γεύματα στο εστιατόριο του ξενοδοχείου και δροσερά ποτά στο μπαρ. Πραγματικά νιώθεις σαν το σπίτι σου. Το συστήνω ανεπιφύλακτα. Σίγουρα θα επιστρέψουμε το επόμενο καλοκαίρι.

Ο χώρος του μπαρ είναι πολύ καλόγουστος. Μπορείς να καθίσεις και να χαλαρώσεις απολαμβάνοντας τον καφέ ή το ποτό σου σε ένα υπέροχο περιβάλλον κοντά στην πισίνα. Το προσωπικό είναι πολύ φιλικό και εξυπηρετικό. Η συμμετοχή μου στη γευσιγνωσία κρασιού ήταν μια μοναδική εμπειρία. Ο Bar manager ήταν αναλυτικός και ευχάριστος και η δοκιμή των κρασιών ήταν πολύ απολαυστική.

The get away was a blast! We learned a lot about olives and their way to oil. The museum is a wonderful place and we highly recommend this theme day!

Family atmosphere, very nice service. Been there solo and with wife. Had a course of Greek cooking there guided by the chief cook. All dishes and service were excellent in a homely atmosphere.

Wir haben die Themenwoche "Leben wie ein Einheimischer" sehr genossen. Olivenernte und Verarbeitung, Klosterbesuch, Brot backen, griechisch Kochen, Besuch des Maravel Gardens, interessante und lustige Einführung in griechische Spirituosen und Weine, ..... Immer war das Team von Alianthos Garden mit vollem Einsatz und großer Begeisterung bemüht, uns etwas Außergewöhnliches zu bieten. Danke

Wir hatten einen Mietwagen und waren demnach sehr flexibel was Ausflugsziele angeht. Eine Bootstour nach Mamara (organized by the Hotel) incl. Picnic-Korb was our highlight.

The room is very comfortable with a choice of multiple pillows and has a very quiet air-conditioning. The soap / shampoo are of good quality and smell very good. The food for breakfast and diner was delicious. We also did a day out to Marmara and had a picnic made by the hotel on a very small, peaceful beach accessible only by boat. More than a stay at a hotel, it is an experience you are getting into - a very delightful one.

Alianthos Garden Hotel team is a 5* team!!!
We spent 9 days in Alianthos Garden Hotel and we can say that this is a hi quality service hotel! The atmosphere is warm and cozy. The rooms are clean and designed with a good taste. Everything was organized to please the guests: restaurant, bar, reception, one pool for adult and one for kids with the play ground, billiard, board games, car rental etc etc.
The waiters in the Amalthea restaurant were the kindest waiters we have ever seen. The receptionists were very kind and responded fast with the best solution to our needs and requests. The cleaning lady Polina was also very attentive and nice. Everybody in this hotel was smiling, welcoming and treating guests in the best manner!
is just highly recommended for anybody who stays in Plakias.

I can’t recommend this family run hotel highly enough. It is without a shadow of a doubt the best hotel in Crete. It’s location also means that the guests really want to be there.
There is nothing too small for the staff to do, to make your stay as comfortable as it can be.
The food is the best I have had in Crete.

An excellent hotel near the beach
Very friendly welcome at the reception desk, very nice and clean rooms with excellent beds, nice and tasty Diner and breakfast at the restaurant (sitting outside was great !) served by very friendly and professional personnel and this all for a very reasonable price per room.

I stayed in a single room and even though it was smaller than the other rooms, it still had a double bed, which was so comfortable. The food in the restaurant was haute cuisine, the best buffet I have had. Every dish was made with care and were mostly all authentic Greek/Cretan. There was plenty of choice and I was never going to be hungry, either at breakfast or dinner.
The pool area was always spotless and I didn’t have any trouble getting a sun bed
I have been visiting Plakiás since 1986 and this is the best hotel I have stayed in. I will definitely be back. Thank you to everyone there that made my stay perfect and for entertaining my efforts to speak Greek

We spent 9 days in Alianthos Garden Hotel and we can say that this is a hi quality service! Everything was organized to please the guests. The waiters were the kindest waiters we have ever seen. Everybody is smiling, welcoming! The verity of food is great: so many meals, so many desserts and fruits. We could taste a lot of Greek specialties.
This restaurant is just highly recommended for anybody who stays in Plakias.

We have booked a half-board vacation with the Alianthos Garden Hotel in August 2023 and both breakfast and dinner are just delicious. The experience is a delight for all senses: the chef takes care to offer many different kinds of food, the variety is amazing, the eye will be delighted by the combination of colors, the food smells delicious and the staff is extremely kind, polite and helpful. Always with a smile.
I am writing this review on 15th of August and there is even live music for the celebration of Holy Mary ☺️
I would highly recommend. I cannot comment on the prices for food but for the dinner you would have to pay for the drinks: 3,8€/0,75l water, 4,2€/0,5l draft beer, 4€/0,3l home made lemonade. 1 glas of wine 4,5-5,5€

Creta at it’s best culinary experience
I was amazed to see the sheer variety of fine and at the same time sophisticated presented traditional dishes. Definitely better than what I tried in the different Tavernas on the see side, and those were very good too.

Something that I have to mention is the very friendly personnel - open and ready for a local recommendation, small talk or even a traditional dance. You quickly get to love this people.

Amalthea restaurant has a overall wonderful atmosphere. You can sit inside, if you want to avoid wind or sun, or sit outside close to the swimming pool, enjoying the sun in the morning or a sunset sky in the evening.

The staff is very friendly, helpful, attentive and makes you feel welcome! Many of them are open for a small talk, giving recommendations about local places to visit or just talking and joking around in general. They do a great job, which adds a lot to the overall nice and welcome atmosphere. They speak very well English and some of them even German. We especially got along very well with waiters like Renata, Ami, Niki, Poly and Myron. Thank you so much!

The cook and staff always took very well care of me because of the gluten intolerance, providing me with glutenfree breakfast in the morning, and informing me about what I can eat safely at the dinner buffet. The chef always made sure that I had enough dishes to eat, even cooking freshly glutenfree dishes for me, so it was 100% safe.

The food in general was amazing and there always was a huge variety for what to eat, also regarding vegetarian and vegan options. You have different options for creating a salad of your liking, different kinds of meat and vegetables everyday, and a high variety in desserts ranging from cake to ice cream. No one leaves this place still being hungry!

I would totally recommend Amalthea restaurant to everyone, as you'll definately find something you'd like to eat everyday, plus it will taste delicious, as well! :)

Place to feel well
We were on vacation in September at the Hotel Alianthos Garden. There is also the Nymfes Bar. The staff is very friendly, polite, attentive and extremely accommodating.
You can relax by the pool and be served by the waiters, a super service.
Drinks and food are very tasty.

We were there for 4 days earlier in July 2023. Welcoming was great as we were taken care of right upon our arrival, making us feel very special, we sat down, got a drink and a small snack while going through how the hotel works and so on. Hotel is great, close to the beach, quiet with a car park right behind it. Breakfast and dinner were, how can I put it, simply amazing with a variety of choice, fresh food, cooked meal, healthy option too if needed, all this nicely prepared by the kitchen staff. All the staff were very nice during our entire stay, this helped us relax and felt confortable to enjoy our family vacation. The pool and the Chest game are a plus

We visited Alianthos for a week at the end of August 2023 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel itself looks great and is well looked after with a clean pool and very nice lobby with areas to relax and drink or play a selection of board games.

The room looked good and was cleaned every day. The bed was very comfortable and we didn't have a bad nights sleep the whole week.

The hotels location is fantastic. With being right next to a great beach that is flanked with restaurants, tavernas and shops you won't need to leave Plakias. However, leaving the area was difficult without a car and taxis are extortionate, we were quoted 200 euros return to visit knossos palace 1.5 hour drive away. Next time, we will rent a car from the hotel as they have a large car park. You can throw a stone from the hotel and hit the supermarket, it's so easy to pick up anything you need.

Staff were always very lovely in passing and whenever we needed them they would be very friendly and professional.

Food was a fantastic ranged buffet every morning and evening. Everything was cooked perfectly and labelled in multiple languages. There was always a great mix laid out that made eating here feel like an attraction and something I always looked forward to. With so much there you'd be hard pressed to need any lunch but if you do the hotel has plenty to offer from their menu and there is lots of other food options in plakias.

Overall, this hotel is a 3 star hotel in 5 star clothing, with great value for money - we will be coming again.

Oh what a great experience we had! Rich buffet during breakfast and dinner, friendly and helpful staff! Food was great, not only the choices but also the flavor! I especially liked cretan island-tried what haven’t tried before (Feta and tomato rusk is heavenly). We had two days in the hotel together with breakfast and dinner and it was never dissapointing. Restaurant itself has beatufilul views, so eating experience was even more fantastic. Thank you, please do not change :)

We spent 9 days in Alianthos Garden Hotel with the half board package. Everything was organized to please the guests. The waiters were the kindest waiters we have ever seen. Everybody was smiling, welcoming! The verity of food was great: so many meals, so many desserts and fruits. Once they have even brought us a watermelon when we were relaxing next to the pool, it was so nice and valued in the hot weather. We could taste a lot of Greek specialties.
This restaurant is just highly recommended for anybody who stays in Plakias.

Vegetarian options: We are not vegetarians, but I saw the meals from this category.

Kid-friendliness: Our son gained 1 kilo there:) He was very satisfied with the food!

We were there for 4 days earlier in July 2023. Welcoming was great as we were taken care of right upon our arrival, making us feel very special, we sat down, got a drink and a small snack while going through how the hotel works and so on. Hotel is great, cose to the beach, quiet with a car park right behind it. Breakfast and dinner were, how can I say, simply amazing with a variety of choice, fresh food, cooked meal, healthy option too if needed, all this nicely prepared by the kitchen staff. All the staff were very nice during our entire stay, this helped us relax and felt confortable to enjoy our family vacation. The pool and the Chest game are a plus
The fact we did not book for a longest period. We stayed 4 days but this went too fast. Joke aside, nothing to comment on really, as the hotel is really oriented into customer satisfaction

A really recreative holiday
The hotel is near the beach in Plakias. The room, the balcony, the corridor and the bathroom are functional. The room has enough space to make you feel comfortable.

Tourists are checked in individually, not at the reception desk, but at a table in the hall. Our receptionist welcomed us with a cold and very tasteful home-made lemonade, which was a blessing in the heat and for our tiredness after the travel.

There was a variety of food available, much more than you could possibly taste, not to mention eat. Everything was displayed elegantly, the savor of every meal was wonderful and they offer something to suit everyone's taste.

The whole staff was absolutely friendly, customer-focused, always with a smile for everybody and helpul. I'd like to mention Sonia (our cleaning lady, who cleaned our room and balcony every day as if it were at least her own), Isabella or Ami and all the other waitresses and waiters (who waited at our tables, always caring for our well-being), Cristina (who would welcome us at the restaurant) and so on. They all strive to give you the feeling of being a family member, which they succeed very well. Our stay was really wonderful and we thank them all again for their constant efforts.

Absolutely fabulous hotel very well appointed. Excellent friendly staff. We’ve never stayed at such a welcoming friendly hotel 10/10.
Also I have mobility issues the swimming pool has proper steps as access to the pool which is gradient to only 1.5 metres. Our beautiful room No 5 was on the ground floor and the shower had a handrail for safety. 5***** for thoughtfulness.

A wonderful week in Greece
We enjoyed our week in this nice hotel very much! It started with an excellent transfer service, followed by a nice service crew. The food was really excellent and we enjoyed a very relaxed and never overcrowed buffet! There is no over-tpurism in Plakias and it still has a real Greek athmosphere and clean beaches!

Outstanding experience.
We wanted to find some nice place for our son to be close to the sea due healthy reasons. Our grandmom spent here 5 weeks and our son 4 weeks. We came for one week. An excellent hotel near the beach
Very friendly welcome at the reception desk, very nice and clean rooms with excellent beds, nice and tasty Diner and breakfast at the restaurant (sitting outside was great !) served by very friendly and professional personnel and this all for a very reasonable price per room.

You can trust this company. We stayed in the Alianthos Garden Hotel and we rented a car from their company (Autopreveli) for two days. They were very flexible with the time. The team responded to our needs timely. It was a nice experience.

Service is perfect, we rented a car and unfortunately we were not able to start our car, however they brought us in two minutes another car, even more equipped :-)

A relaxing and calm break in the sunshine.
We have visited this hotel for a number of years and everything about each stay has been excellent. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff in the restaurant and at reception are warm, friendly and very helpful. The food at breakfast offers lots of choice and the evening meals are varied and cater for all tastes. We will continue to return here in the future.

Wonderful experience in Plakias
We visited Amalthea restaurant for dinner every night during our 1 week holiday in Plakias. The variety as well as quality of the food in the buffet is great! The Cretan and Greek cuisine dishes are super tasty, well-cooked, nicely and neatly presented! Kids' corner contains special dishes every day.
Special credit to the personnel for the great service, politeness and assistance in anything we needed.
All in all, we enjoyed every single evening we had at Amalthea restaurant and we definitely recommend it!

Great rent a car company! Streamlined experience of renting a car trough hotel reception, with great discount. Car was new, clean and maintained. The only mistake I made I haven't booked them at the day one, at the airport. Would definitely recommend them and rent with them next time

The cars were perfect (we rented 2 kia picantos). They were perfectly cleaned, in great condition and the tanks were full of course! We were the guests of the hotel Anthalios Garden, and deposit was not required. The service is perfect, I can strongly recommend it to anyone!

Can't fault the food, which is always fresh and well presented. The hotel staff are a pleasure to be around, always attentive and just as important smiley and fun. The restaurant staff are efficient and helpful. We did the boat trip to Preveli, with a picnic provided by the hotel, this is also highly recommended. All in all a lovely hotel and well worth considering if you're visiting this part of Crete.

We were also able to communicate in Spanish with Shi of whom we have an excellent memory! Memorable boat excursion offered by the hotel.
